Musashino University's Asia AI Institute and Edinburgh Napier University Launch Collaborative Research

Invitation to Japan-UK Symposium on Responsible AI Competency: Shaping the Future through Benchmarking

Musashino University's Asia AI Institute and Edinburgh Napier University, with support from the British Council, are launching a joint research project and will hold a symposium to commemorate the occasion. This event will provide a platform to promote AI implementation strategies in industry and advance cutting-edge AI research. Through keynote speeches and panel discussions featuring university researchers and corporate representatives, we will explore new possibilities for AI utilization from a global perspective. We are currently inviting participants from the corporate sector.

This symposium will focus on global trends in artificial intelligence research. It will feature a keynote speech by Professor Junichi Tsujii, former Director of the Artificial Intelligence Research Center and currently a Fellow at the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST). In addition, Professor Yasushi Kiyoki, Dean of the Faculty of Data Science at Musashino University, will present the university's research on data science and artificial intelligence.

Furthermore, Professor Sukanlaya Sawan, project leader at Edinburgh Napier University, and Professor Virach Sornlertlamvanich, project leader at Musashino University, will introduce the ongoing Japan–UK joint research project. The symposium will also welcome leading experts from both academia and industry, including Dr. Masahiro Nakamura, President of Lexer Research, and Mr. Shunichi Yoshitake, Chairman of Avis Inc.

In addition to presentations on the latest achievements in international collaborative research, presentations from companies and a panel discussion are planned, aiming to explore the potential for academia–industry collaboration from a global perspective.

We are currently recruiting corporate participants for the symposium. This event offers a valuable opportunity for companies interested in AI-driven business development, those seeking connections with the global AI research community, and organizations focusing on recurrent education and reskilling of employees to engage with the forefront of international AI research.

The day's program will include the international symposium, a networking reception with AI researchers from Japan and abroad, faculty members from both universities, and participating companies. Additionally, we will conduct introductions to Musashino University's Faculty of Data Science, Graduate School of Data Science, and Asia AI Institute.

We hope you will take this opportunity to experience the possibilities of international and industry-academia collaboration, as well as Musashino University's cutting-edge environment as a research and educational institution for AI.

Cross Language Connective Learningbased on Text Mining Approach

Machine can now talk to human. We spent so long time to develop a machine that can understand human language. Today, we are in the flood of information, and have no time to consume all the information we need. We use a text mining technique to extract the important keywords which can represent the essence of the text, and determine their semantic relation. As a result, we are now making efforts to support human reading by pinpointing the related texts and summarizing them with the attaching VDO clips. あふれたデータをキャッチして、今まで見えなかったものが見えてくる時代になります。
